Shaaxkooxweewaakan was envisioned in 2019, and presented its name from Language and Culture in 2021. Shaaxkooxweewaakan means - the healing path. The program is a collaboration with law enforcement and behavioral health from within the Stockbridge Wellness Center. It first gained approval from both Tribal Council and the BIA in late 2021. This program will have peer mentors as part of their services and culturally it will be connected to the community through elder voice. It is also highly adaptive.
