Description: 
The Waukesha County Alcohol Treatment Court is a post-conviction program that began in May 2006 with a federal grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, and was the first OWI court in the state of Wisconsin. It began by serving offenders convicted of a 3rd OWI offense, but expanded in 2011 with another federal grant to also serve offenders convicted of a 4th OWI offense. The minimum duration of the program is 12 months, consisting of four intense phases requiring frequent, random drug and alcohol testing, Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM), substance abuse treatment, regular status hearings in front of the drug court judge, attendance at self-help meetings, frequent case management meetings, and other requirements.
