Jefferson County Criminal Justice Collaborating Council - The principal mission of the Council is to enhance public safety in Jefferson County through community collaboration by ensuring offender accountability, providing rehabilitation programs and supporting the rights and needs of victims. In addition, the Council is committed to providing the coordinated leadership necessary to establish and foster innovative corrections programs for adult and juvenile offenders. The Council will adopt evidence-based practices that will provide better outcomes for justice system users, their families, and the public at large; provide ongoing oversight for new or alternative programs; provide coordination across departments and budget areas; eliminate duplication; enhance public safety; and continue working with community organizations in achieving an improved criminal justice system. The CJCC meets bi- monthly and is comprised of 13 community stakeholders.

OWI Treatment Court

Description: 
In 2014, Jefferson County implemented the Jefferson County Alcohol Treatment Court (ATC) Program. Jefferson County Alcohol Treatment Court participants have the opportunity to engage in AODA treatment services and cognitive behavioral interventions to reduce the risk for future impaired driving. Participants are connected to resources to address their individual needs and risk. This program's multifaceted approach utilizes a team concept made up of the Judge, CJCC Coordinator, Treatment Court Case Manager, Defense Attorney, District Attorney, Probation and Parole, Treatment Providers, and Peer Support Specialist.

In 2017, Jefferson County implemented the Drug Treatment Court (JCDTC) Program for individuals facing nonviolent criminal offenses driven by substance use disorder. The Jefferson County Drug Treatment Court offers comprehensive care coordination by connecting participants with resources to address individual risk and need. This program's multifaceted approach utilizes a team concept made up of the Judge, CJCC Coordinator, Treatment Court Case Manager, Defense Attorney, District Attorney, Probation and Parole, Treatment providers, and peer support services.
