Pre-charge Diversion Program

Description: 
The First Time Offender Program is intended for individuals who have contact with the legal system through a non-violent misdemeanor or low-level felony behavior and have no prior criminal record. Participants who complete a two-hour class and remain crime free for ninety days will not receive formal charges. The District Attorney's Office makes all decisions regarding referrals to the First Time Offender Program.

Post-charge Diversion and Deferred Prosecution Program

Description: 
The Substance Diversion Program is intended for individuals with substance motivated involvement with the legal system through non-violent felony level behavior. Participants work with a case manager to develop an individualized case plan to address the needs which lead to the criminal behavior. This program typically takes six to twelve months to complete. Substance use treatment is a required element of this program. The District Attorney's Office makes referrals to the CJCC for consideration for the Substance Diversion Program.

The mission of the Polk County Treatment Court is to improve the safety of our citizens and reduce the destructive cycle of substance use and mental health disorders. OWI Diversion Program

Description: 
The Intoxicated Driver Intervention Program is designed for clients with a standard OWI second or third. Clients are given the opportunity to change their behavior related to alcohol and/or drug use, while gaining education related to impaired driving. The overall goal of the program is to reduce the likelihood of future offenses and to provide clients with an increased awareness of impaired driving.
